Introducing: Chelsea Allen
We are so excited to welcome another Instructor to our Rêve Mat Team, Chelsea Allen! Chelsea brings her eclectic music taste, knowledge, and skill to the Yoga Room and teaches one epic Yoga Sculpt class that will leave you feeling inspired and heart-centered. She combines calm elements that she gets from hiking in the mountains with a sense of community that she brings with her as part of her own search for connection after moving to Portland, ME in 2020. We caught up with Chelsea to get to know a little bit more about her and what you can expect in her class. Check it out — and hopefully we will see you on a mat soon!
Where are you from?
I am from Sandwich, Massachusetts - a small town on Cape Cod. I've also spent time in Florida and Boston. I started visiting Portland in 2017 and made the official move to South Portland in 2020!
When did you first start coming to Rêve?
I taught Yoga Sculpt in Boston and it was arguably the hardest thing to leave behind when I moved. I started Googling, "Yoga Sculpt in Portland", and here we are! I first started coming to Rêve when Thompson's Point kicked off in 2020. I was new to town — so bored of at-home workouts — and missing the fitness community I had back in Boston. The music, the energy, and the people were perfect at Rêve; all on top of being at one of my favorite places in Maine. I was hooked in the first few minutes of my first class.
What do you do for fun outside of Rêve?
Outside of Rêve, you can find me adventuring around Maine and beyond! My boyfriend and I are huge music people, so you'll often find us at The State Theatre and Thompson's Point, or chasing our favorite bands elsewhere. I also love to camp, hike, ski, travel, and of course, eat and drink my way around Portland!
What can we expect from you classes?
My classes are meant to be challenging but leave you in control to get what you need out of your time on the mat. I want people to be able to escape their thoughts (and their phone) for a bit, maybe hear a new song they're obsessed with, and leave feeling really strong and proud for what they just accomplished. Music-driven movement is everything to me! You'll mostly hear uplifting electronic music, surprising remixes, and familiar favorites: Kygo, Lil' Wayne, Maggie Rogers, One Direction, Avicii, Grateful Dead, Odesza ... they've all shown up in my classes; nothing is off-limits!
Check out our schedule to catch one of Chelsea’s classes!
