Introducing Yoga Sculpt with Eliza Hill!

Over the last year, Rêvers have grown to love our weekly Yoga Sculpt classes. These 60-minute, mat based classes use a combination of vinyasa flow and weight work to build strength and balance. While Nicola Mancini introduced the practice to the Rêve community and quickly built a devout following, we are so excited to introduce you all to Eliza Hill who will provide us with an extra chance to Sculpt each Tuesday at 6:00 am! We caught up with her to discuss what led her to Yoga Sculpt, what we might expect from her classes, and where we can find her outside of the studio! Check it out!

How did you find out about/start coming to Rêve?
My husband and I just moved Portland a couple months ago and having a routine workout schedule is really important to me. Several people mentioned Rêve to me when I was  exploring for options,  so I signed up for a one-month trial and was immediately hooked. Not only are the instructors amazing, but there is a community feel where everyone is supporting each other to show up every day and continually get stronger.

How did you start teaching yoga sculpt? (what's been your journey to being an instructor?)  While training for a marathon, I pulled my hamstring which caused a nagging pain during physical activity for years. I tried rest, physical therapy, sports massages, and each time I got back into long distance running, the pain would come back. I had never been a “yoga person” as I didn’t think it had enough cardio, but I tried a free week at CorePower and was immediately blown away by the workout. After adopting a regular Yoga Sculpt practice, I found myself in the best shape of my life, and witness substantial improvements in my running, skiing and cycling. In 2018, I decided to go through the rigorous 200-hour training program at CorePower and have absolutely loved teaching ever since!

What can the Rêve community expect from your classes? How is it different than a "normal" yoga class?  The class is taught with high energy music making it a fun high intensity 50-60 min. You’ll recognize standard Yoga postures throughout the class however it incorporates hand weights, squats, and high-intensity cardio bursts. Designed to target and tone all the major muscle groups, Yoga Sculpt is meant for you to leave feeling stronger and empowered.

My favorite moment in a Yoga Sculpt class is when… you look around the room and see 20+ people working their butts off. Life is extremely busy, but people have chosen to be in the studio doing something good for both their mental and physical fitness. It’s incredible to watch people challenge themselves to push harder than they may even know they can and then see results. I am inspired every time I walk into the studio, and it is the people and community that make me come back as a student and teacher time and time again.

Some songs you’ll definitely find on my first few playlists will be… I love to match the flow of the class with the intensity of the song. I am a sucker for Top 40; however, you will undoubtedly hear a song from Kygo and an oldie, like Jackson 5 or The Backstreet Boys. I am ALWAYS open to recommendations!

When I’m not at the studio, you can find me…On a mountainside hiking or skiing with her husband and friends.
