Welcome Home, Meghan C.!

This week at Rêve we are rolling out our new schedule. While there are lots of exciting changes—including more chances to Tone & Trim, an extra Strength & Sweat each Sunday, and a few new mid-day rides— the best one of all is the triumphant return of a key member of the Rêve family, the one and only Meghan Courchesne! We caught up with her to chat about where life has taken her since she stepped off our podium in 2018, what we can expect from her classes, and what she is most excited for now that she’s back in Portland, in addition to riding with all of you, of course.

Welcome home! It feels like you just left, but in reality you have done so much since July 2018. What have you been up to since we saw you last?

I have been on a wild journey for the past year and a half! I had an opportunity to work for another cycling company that has multiple studios across the U.S., which fulfilled my want at the time for adventure and a little bit of exploration.  During my time there, many doors opened which allowed me to not only learn a lot about indoor cycling, but also allowed me to grow as a human and live in multiple different cities, including NYC, Boston, Philadelphia.

For those Rêvers who will be new to your classes, how would you describe your classes/teaching style? For those of us who love your classes, is there anything new that we should be ready for?

My class is a mixture of inspiration, up-beat music, and a lot of sweat! I personally fell in love with indoor cycling--and Rêve!--because of the workout and mental clarity a class can offer. I believe that we all are capable of achieving those moments of clarity; it’s just about digging deep within yourself, committing to the 50 mins within the four walls of Rêve, and giving it your all, whatever that may be on that particular day.

To my returning riders — it’s still me! My classes may be a little more challenging than the last time we moved together, but, as always, I’ll be right there with you.

What are 3-5 songs that have been in your heavy rotation recently?

I’m a little late to the Ariana Grande train, but I love and am slightly obsessed with Break Free. Other songs on my list:

Anything JESS GLYNNE (author’s note: some things never change, in the very best way)

Burning - Maggie Rogers

Misery Business - Paramore

Circles - I See Monstas

What are some of your favorite ways to cross train to keep you strong and motivated on the bike?

I love cross training and think it  is is so so so important for everyone. While I was living in Philadelphia, I got into training two times a week with a personal trainer. We would workout for an hour, targeting a combination of push/pull movements with heavy weights. It was a total body workout and always kicked my butt, but I have never felt stronger!

Since moving back to New England, my ultimate cross training has been my backyard! Getting outside going on runs, skiing, stacking firewood ... whatever it may be - I love living an active lifestyle and letting my cross training take me outdoors and on some adventures.

What are you most looking forward to in moving back to Portland (besides our amazing community at Rêve, of course)?

The food!!!  Ahh - Portland has THE BEST food scene and I love participating. I’m also looking forward to being close to the ocean again. There is something about living near the water that makes me feel so grounded and  truest version of myself.
