We're Going Home

Next week, we head back to our Forest Avenue studio for the first time since March 2020. These last 17 months have been a whirlwind during which we confronted challenges we never even thought to prepare for; however, we were continually amazed with how our community and our incredible team adapted to each new thing.

Together, we were bound by our love for movement, by our pursuit of joy, and these were the things that kept us going amidst the moves and the masks and the mandates. We came together to keep ourselves healthy, while also trying to do what was best for the health and wellness of the broader Portland community.

Through that time, we found a silver lining in being able to provide some sense of hope, optimism, and togetherness to our community during such an isolated period.

We have come to understand and treasure Rêve as more than just a place. It is a community that is resilient. This unprecedented time has also opened up some incredible opportunities like riding outside at Thompson Point, under the twinkle lights of Brick South, and the light show at Halo. We’ve partnered with LL Bean and Maine Medical Center to bring movement across Maine, and met so many wonderful people along the way.

The Rêve community has demonstrated it is stronger than a place. We have kept showing up for our community and our community in turn has showed up for us.

It is hard for to express how what we have collectively accomplished since we walked out of our studio, and how excited we are to head back to the place where it all started.

As we finally prepare to go back, we find ourselves thinking about where we started.

In 2013, Rêve manifested in response to the fact that it felt like there was something missing from the Portland community. While there were many places to workout, there was not a place that was dedicated to tending to and cultivating the well-being of each individual who walked through its doors. Rêve was developed to achieve this, to become a place where everyone felt welcome and could thrive, a place with a strong commitment to movement, but specifically, to indoor cycling.

“Rêve” is the French word for dream, which proved to be even more fitting than we could have realized at the time: what it came to be was a manifestation of a dream--some we didn’t even know to have when we opened our doors for the first time.

What started as a 22-bike studio quickly expanded to a  40-bike living dream studio with an overflowing amount of love, sweat, and heart.

If you’ve been to Rêve, you have experienced the heartbeat of the studio that is unparalleled.

Rêve quickly became not only a place to workout, but a community that has moved with us through countless 50 minute classes, but also through the ups and downs of life that we’ve experienced in the last eight years.

Time and time again--and especially over the last 18 months--we have been in awe of the fact that our community is unlike any other.

From the moment you walk through our doors, you enter into something special. Our instructors are passionate about music, inclusivity, and creating an experience through well curated playlists and intentional movement that they integrate into our rides. Within the four walls of Forest Ave, you will find a state-of-the-art studio that combines classic minimalism with boutique fitness.

It is a space you will remember with people who you won’t forget.

We believe that through connection, community, and movement, anything is possible. Rêve is more than just fitness. It’s a place where the greater Portland community can gather and enjoy the company of one another.

When we give ourselves time and space to give back to ourselves in the form of movement -- we become better, kinder humans who are ready to make their dreams a reality.

And we’re heading home. And the Rêve Team couldn’t be more excited to move with you back on Forest Ave.
