#GetOutside

While we are sad to see summer go, Fall in Maine is pretty spectacular in its own right. As the leaves start to change, we find that we switch up our routines a little bit, curing our wanderlust with a dose of the outdoors. Turns out that within 2 hours of Portland there are seemingly endless must-do hikes and just as many must-eat snacks, both of which are a perfect way to follow up a Saturday morning class at the studio. Below, we offer you a few of our favorite daytrips to add a little bit of adventure to your weekends! k-saw

Morse Mountain (Phippsburg, ME)

While we find "mountain" to be a little bit of a misnomer (it is fairly flat with a few short, steep inclines), this trek has one of Maine's most amazing rewards. The 3.8 mile out and back is a well marked, simple trail that offers a range of different views, including salt marshes and looming pines. However, when you reach the end, you access one of the most pristine beaches around, which--even on the busiest days--basically feels like a private beach. We recommend stopping at Rosemont Market and picking up your favorite snacks and bringing a blanket for the perfect picnic. If you're feeling extra bold, you can even squeeze in a final swim of the season!

Mount Agamenticus (York, ME)

About 50 minutes south, this little gem offers a number of different hikes with amazing views, spanning the mountains to the sea. There are trailheads both at the bottom of the mountain and at the top, allowing you to choose your own adventure depending on your mood. Afterwards, we recommend dipping into nearby Kittery to reward yourself with a cruller and a coffee from Lil's Cafe in Kittery and stroll around the adorable little town center.

Bradbury Mountain State Park (Pownal, ME)

If you're running a bit short on time, Bradbury Mountain offers a quick escape in nearby Pownal. Like Mount A, there is an extensive trail system around the summit. On your way home, you can swing into the Freeport outlets and maybe even check out Maine Beer Company, which we find often has a delicious guest foodtruck to help you replace those calories along with some of the tastiest beverages in New England.

This is just the start of a very long list of possibilities that Maine has to offer. What are some of your favorites? We would love to hear!
