For Skyler, the Sky's the Limit this Summer!
Those of us who know her know that Skyler is ALWAYS on the move, but we were lucky enough to catch up with her in advance of her Sting/Annie Lennox theme ride to ask her a few questions about her summer, her ride, and her music. Read on then grab a bike and join her tonight at 6:30 for her Sting/Annie Lennox-inspired tone & cycle ride!
1. How's your summer going so far?
Amazing. How can you not love summer when you live in Maine. I am consistently humbled by the fact that I live in such a beautiful place that affords me both the beach and the mountains in a short drive (or sometimes a bike ride!). Some of my favorites of the summer include: fresh fruit from the farmer's market, as much time in the ocean as I can fit in, and in general, spending time outside with great friends.
2. We know it's gorgeous outside and that you're a big runner - why do you think it's important for athletes to still make time to get their indoor rides in this summer?
As much as I am an advocate of getting your sweat on outside, there is nothing that can replace the community energy that manifests within the studio. We all know the heat, the humidity, or even unexpected thunderstorms mean that our workouts are not always what we want them to be outdoors. To me, making time to go to a place where you know that the temperature will be just right (and you are in charge of turning up the heat so to speak), that you will have good music and people around you, and that you will leave with one heck of workout under your belt is worth being indoors any day!
3. What inspired your Sting/Annie playlist?
Among artists like Boz Scaggs and Eric Clapton (hint hint?), Annie Lennox/Eurythmics and Sting/The Police were some of the first musical artists my dad introduced me to as a young child. I have vivid memories of listening to the Medusa album or rocking out to "If you love somebody set them free" during the summer especially while my dad and I hung out on our home's deck. Because I have such wonderful memories associated with these two artists, I was thrilled to get the chance to share them with all of the Rêvers who make riding to these songs even more magical.
