On March 5th and 6th, Savannah and Stephanie C. will be hosting our third instructor training at Rêve! Recently, we asked some of our newest instructors--Chris, Joanna, and Meghan--to share their thoughts after completing the training and what their experience has been like taking their spot in the front of the class. If you're still on the fence, check out their answers below to help you decide if this might be a good option for you!
What inspired you to sign up for instructor training?
Meghan: Carolyn was my inspiration behind wanting to teach. I felt so connected to her energy and became addicted to the way I felt after leaving her class. I realized that I, too, wanted to do that for others.
Chris: I saw becoming an instructor as a new way to challenge myself in a healthy way.
Joanna: After spinning consistently at Rêve for a while, I found myself listening to music differently and making playlists for myself. I realized that even though I was nervous about doing the training, it was something I was dying to do...and I'm so glad I did!
What was the most important thing you took away from your experience in instructor training?
J: How important it is to be enthusiastic, love your music, know your music, and HAVE FUN! Also, I've realize how important capturing the beat of the music is to guiding a great ride. Rhythm is so important!
C: I realized that you have got to be yourself up there.
M: Learning how to catch slower beats. I always seemed to be racing to the finish line, but I realized how much strength could be built by slowing down my legs, adding more resistance, and climbing.
What has been the best part of being an instructor so far?
M: Being around the incredible people at Rêve is what motivates me to be my absolute best. As the instructor, you get to lead all that positive energy into a great workout. Also, I have found that my time as an instructor so far has helped me find myself and a passion that sets my soul on fire.
C: Getting to meet more riders from the Rêve community. Also, I've realized how much my relationship with music has changed since I started; I can't listen to the radio without thinking what I would do with each song that plays.
J: Creating the playlists!
Finally, what advice would you give to folks as they get ready to start their journey towards being a spin instructor?
C: Take it one class at a time and have fun. You will be amazed at how quickly you grow as an instructor. And take as many classes with other instructors as you can.
J: Have fun, and don't be nervous!
M: As you embark on this journey, know that by doing so, you will open yourself up to new challenges. It's a time to break through your own fears and become more courageous!
