Introducing Alexis Rog!

Over the last two weeks, many of you have taken part in some amazing free community rides. We love seeing  our instructor training program participants take over the podium and shine. One of those stars has been Alexis Rog! When she is not at Rêve this supermom is also a guidance counselor at Freeport High School. In this post, she chats with us about what inspired her to take the leap to become an instructor, what we may expect from her classes, and where we might find her outside the studio.

I ride at Rêve because…

I love being part of an athletic team!  I swam competitively in high school and in college, and my teams have been a huge part of my life. I went on to compete in triathlons for many years, enjoying the athletic challenge and camaraderie among the athletes. When I experienced a Rêve workout for the first time, I was absolutely hooked! The Rêve community is amazing and I feel so fortunate to be a part of this team of athletes.

Teaching’s a big job! What are you most excited for?

It is a huge job, and it has been a longtime dream of mine.  I am most excited to give the Rêve community a challenging and inspiring workout while having fun at the same time. I like to work really hard and have a good time, too, so hopefully that will come through in my classes.

My favorite moment in class is when…

You reach the point in class is particularly challenging. At that moment, the energy in the room is high and everyone is on the beat together; it’s that team spirit that makes me feel so alive.

The most challenging part about becoming an instructor has been…

Getting comfortable talking while riding through an intense workout. It is so much harder than you would think!  The Master Rêve instructors make it look so easy, but it definitely is not!  I do love a good challenge, though, so it has been a fun journey.

Some songs you’ll definitely find on my first few playlists will be…

I am a music fanatic and love a wide range of genres, so long as there is a strong beat.  Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, Chainsmokers, Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida are just a few of my favorites. I am in love with the new Imagine Dragons song “Whatever It Takes,” so that one will definitely show up!

When I’m not at the studio, you can find me…

Working as a school counselor at Freeport High School.  When I’m not at FHS or Rêve, you can find me hanging with my beloved little family and supporting my two kids in their adventures, jamming to some great music,  or out on the hills on my road bike.

Catch Alexis this Saturday, June 10th, at 10:30 for a free community ride!
