Sarah Willhoite and Her Fundraising Ride to Support The Tri for a Cure

We are constantly amazed by our instructors here at Rêve. Not only do they lead us through inspiring and intense workouts each day, but at any moment in time you can count on the fact that they are pushing their own personal boundaries in hugely impressive ways. This week, we are spotlighting Sarah Willhoite as she trains for the upcoming Tri for a Cure on Sunday, July 23rd to sponsor the Maine Cancer Foundation. For Sarah, the race will not only be an athletic accomplishment, but she will be honoring her mother, who passed away earlier this year after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer.

Next Thursday, July 20th, at 5:30 pm Sarah will be leading a very special ride to support her fundraising efforts as she prepares for the race. She shared with us why she chose this amazing race and how her participation—along with the support of the Rêve family—will have a positive impact on individuals and families confronting cancer diagnoses in the future.

From Sarah:

“Seven years ago my mother and I competed in this race together, and then I moved away to New York City. Upon my return to Maine, we signed up to do the race together again. Before we were able to do so, Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was a complete shock, as she was 63 and healthy as can be. Although she ultimately passed away in January, I know she will be with me in heart and spirit on race day.

Her cancer was one for which there is no cure. Yet. There are many doctors who are eager to find one, but they need funding to do so. Please join me for a ride from which all donations will go towards the Maine Cancer Foundation. The more money we can raise, the closer we will be to finding a cure.”

Please join us next Thursday to honor the life of Sarah’s mother and to support the Maine Cancer Foundation’s amazing work to fulfill their mission to “foster and grow the most promising and effective cancer-fighting efforts available to the people of Maine.” Reserve your spot in the class today! It will be free to sign up, but please be sure to bring a donation of $15 or more (checks should be made out Sarah Willhoite). If you cannot make the ride and still want to support Sarah’s fundraising efforts, please consider making a donation via her personal fundraising page.
